CHRISTAL BOOT AWARD 2006

At the 10th Crystal Boot Awards, which took place from 3-5 February 2006 in Blackpool, England, Wendy Di Silvestro was presented with a Crystal Boot Award in the open category “Dancers’ Choice”.  This trophy, which was won last year by the well-known DJ Tim Ruzgar, was awarded to her in recognition of her dedication to and outstanding work in linedancing and, in particular, for her considerable contribution towards developing the link between linedancing in the Geneva and surrounding area of Switzerland and the United Kingdom.  It was an exciting moment for those of us present in Blackpool to see Wendy (in a state of total shock!) go on to the stage to collect her Crystal Boot Award alongside such linedance personalities as Maggie Gallagher, Kate Sala and Peter Metelnick. Wendy, a British national, resident in Geneva for over 35 years, is an instructor with Louise & Jacques Linedancers as well as at other classes in the Geneva area.  Not only does she teach, animate/DJ at socials, but she also frequently organizes trips to linedance events in the U.K. and elsewhere and prepares dancers beforehand.  Prior to the recent Crystal Boot event she did not hesitate to respond to the dancers’ request to hold workshops to teach them dances popular in the U.K. to enable them to better participate in the week-end’s dancing. Most importantly, through her tireless efforts, motivation and enthusiasm, Wendy has succeeded in transmitting to so many of us her passion for linedancing.  We are indeed fortunate to have her as our teacher and our friend and are so proud and happy that she has received the international recognition she so deserves.  However, we know that for Wendy, the most rewarding part of linedancing for her is to see others enjoying themselves on the dancefloor and to form precious friendships everywhere she goes to dance. Wendy has dedicated her Crystal Boot trophy to the late Jacques Théberge who, with his wife Louise, started linedance lessons in the Geneva area ten years ago and is still greatly missed by all who knew him, but whose spirit lives on amongst us through our passion for linedancing. A l’occasion de la 10ème remise des Crystal Boot Awards du 3 au 5 février 2006 à Blackpool en Angleterre, Wendy di Silvestro a reçu le « Dancer’s Choice » Award. Cette récompense  (gagné en 2005 par DJ Tim Ruzgar) lui a été remise en reconnaissance pour son engagement pour le linedance, son extraordinaire travail de faire découvrir aux danseurs de la région genevoise la scène en U.K. et de créer un lien entre ces deux pays. C’était un moment très émouvant pour nous de voir Wendy (en état de shock !) monter sur la scène pour recevoir son Crystal Boot Award en compagnie de personnalités tels que Maggie Gallagher, Kate Sala et Peter Metelnick. wendy,  une anglaise vivant à Genève depuis plus de 35 ans, est instructeur de Linedance des Louise & Jacques Linedancers et autres classes à Genève.  Au-delà des cours de danse, animations et DJ durant les soirées elle organise aussi les voyages pour participer aux grandes évènements de Linedance en Angleterre et autres destinations et prépare les participants en organisant des ateliers pour montrer les danses les plus populaires qui seront dansés sur place. Ce qui est plus important encore, avec son infatigable effort, sa motivation et son enthousiasme, Wendy a transmis sa passion de Linedance sur beaucoup d’entre nous. Nous sommes vraiment heureux de l’avoir comme instructeur et amie et sommes heureux et fiers de la voir récompensé avec un trophée international qu’elle mérite tellement, bien que nous sachions que pour Wendy, sa plus grande récompense est de voir les autres s’amuser sur une piste de danse et d’avoir des amis précieux partout ou elle va danser. Wendy a dédié ce Crystal Boot Award au regretté  Jacques Théberge qui, avec son épouse Louise, avait commencé des cours de Linedance à Genève il y a 10 ans et qui manque toujours à tous ceux qui l’ont connu, mais sa passion pour la Linedance continue à vivre en nous. An der 10. Verleihung der Crystal Boot Awards vom 3.-5. Februar 2006 in Blackpool, England, hat Wendy Di Silvestro den Crystal Boot Award „Dancers’ Choice“ erhalten. Dieser Award (2005 vom DJ Tim Ruzgar gewonnen) zeichnet sie für ihren unglaublichen Einsatz fürs Linedance und die grosse Arbeit die sie zur Förderung des Austausches im Linedance zwischen der Region Genf und England geleistet hat. Es war ein sehr emotionaler Moment als Wendy (im Schockzustand!) auf die Bühne stieg um an der Seite von Persönlichkeiten wie Maggie Gallagher, Kate Sala und Peter Metelnick ihren Award entgegen zu nehmen. Wendy, eine Engländerin die schon seit über 35 Jahren in Genf lebt, ist Instruktorin bei den Louise & Jacques Linedancers und anderen Kursen. Darüber hinaus ist sie als Unterhalterin oder DJ and Tanzabenden bekannt und organisiert Reisen nach England oder anderen Orten zu den grossen Linedance Events. Sie gibt auch immer gleich Workshops um den Tänzern die Tänze die an solchen Events top sind im Voraus beizubringen. Am wichtigsten ist jedoch, dass Wendy mit ihrem unermüdlichen Einsatz, ihrer Freude und Motivation es immer wieder schafft ihren Enthusiasmus an uns weiterzugeben. Wir sind wirklich glücklich sie als Instruktor und Freund zu haben und freuen uns, dass sie mit einem internationalen Award ausgezeichnet wurde den sie so sehr verdient. Wir wissen aber auch dass es Wendy am meisten Freude macht wenn sie anderen die sich beim Tanzen amüsieren zusehen kann und sie die vielen wertvollen Freunde wiedertreffen kann die sie überall hat, wo immer sie auch tanzen geht. Wendy hat diesen Crystal Boot Award Jacques Théberge gewidmet der, zusammen mit seiner Frau Louise, vor 10 Jahren in Genf Linedancekurse angefangen hatte. Jacques fehlt all denen die ihn gekannt haben immer noch sehr, sein Enthusiasmus fürs Linedance lebt aber in uns weiter. Catherine Péguet Übersetzung Gutz
